How soon can you start my solar project?

It depends on the time of year and our current workload volume. We usually run six to 12 weeks of backlog because we’re providing a high-demand service. You don’t want to hire a company that promises to install a solar system next week—that usually means they aren’t doing good business. On the other hand, it shouldn’t take 10 months either.

How long will it take for my investment to pay off?

After we do our initial inspection, we’ll submit a proposal that shows the financial figures, including the calculated internal rate of return, the estimated financial savings over the lifetime of the system and the approximate value added to your home.

How long will my solar system last?

Accepted Answer

We consider the life of a system to be the length of time it’s covered under warranty, which is 25 years, but it’s not uncommon for some systems to last 30 or 40 years.

Will you be able to hide my solar panels from view?

Accepted Answer

It depends on what direction your roof faces and the positioning of the panels. We won’t sacrifice the functionality of the system just to make it look nicer, but we’ll do the best we can. We also provide a variety of panels that emphasize aesthetics—they feature solid black wracking and faces rather than the little cross hatch wires that are typically associated with solar panels.

Do you offer financing?

Yes, we offer financing through a credit union that provides loans specifically for solar systems. We also offer a variety of leasing options.

Will installing a solar system increase the value of my home?

Accepted Answer

Generally speaking, yes. UC Berkeley and Lawrence Livermore Lab did a study a couple years ago and came up with some solid numbers based on the actual transactions of houses equipped with solar in California.

Question 7

Is it better to lease or buy a solar system?

Accepted Answer

That depends on the state of the economy and the housing market. Right now, it’s better to purchase rather than lease, but that could change.
