Leland Char: Going for Greatness
PLEASANTON — Leland Char acquired AMM Fencing in May 2021 and has since served as the company’s owner and general manager. With a decade of experience working for such high-profile companies as Walmart, Facebook and McKinsey & Company (along with three degrees in business and engineering from the University of Southern California), Leland holds the knowledge and skills necessary to ensure his customers’ approval, his employees’ growth, and his company’s success.
Leland felt the first spark of interest in running a construction business while working as director of operations for BuildZoom in 2015. There, he managed a team of 40 global employees who were dedicated to the company’s mission of matching quality contractors to available projects. Leland succeeded in doubling the company’s revenue during his tenure. More than that, however, he saw firsthand that when homeowners invested in their properties with first-rate contractors and products, they enjoyed both immediate enjoyment and long-term financial returns.
While at BuildZoom, Leland was reminded of his boyhood home and the upside-down door handle that was installed there by a less-than-professional contractor (and still exists as such today!). The son and grandson of entrepreneurs, Leland knew he could do better for his community. He felt confident that he could provide customers with “greatness” from the day they signed on until long after their projects were completed.
Leland is thrilled to have had the opportunity to take the reins of the highly successful AMM Fencing in 2021, and he looks forward to furthering the company’s growth in the coming years. When he’s not working (which isn’t often), Leland enjoys spending time with his fiancée, running (about 50 miles each week) and visiting his family in Hawaii.
